I paint what is in my present frame with references to the past.
Figures and environments become actors and backdrops in my work.
I paint one moment of their story though my intention is not to offer a direct narrative but rather allow the viewer to find their story.
I have deep reverence for classical painting traditions and techniques. And I'm inspired by the modern experimental movements. I play with colors and textures to create the feel of temperatures that can evoke a primal instinct, perhaps even an emotion.

I'm addicted to oils on linen. And I'm still discovering the beauty of creating light and depth with thinly layered glazes. I also experiment with wax, printed matter, ink and paint to create tactile pieces that express the chaos of media influences in our modern world.
